Q: What is “Environmental Graphic Design?”

A: It a fancy way to say, the graphics, signs, images, directions, advertising, etc. you see every day in your environment.

Q: How does that differ from graphic design or advertising?

A: In scale and purpose mostly.  EGD usually is much larger, less subtle, and must communicate the message a little faster, maybe.  While advertising can direct, EGD gives you directions you’re looking for right now.

Q: Aren’t we talking about a plain old sign?

A: Maybe. A sign can be in your environment, true. And, graphics are graphics; but, “design” gets at problem solving.

Q:  Bottom line; what are you trying to say?
